The U-17 Manhattan Fusion, coached by Ray Selvadurai, is the first girl’s team in the Manhattan Soccer Club
history to be accepted into the prestigious USYSA Region 1 Premier League. The Region 1 Premier League,
where the Fusion will play for Spring 2010, includes 16 of the top teams within Region 1.
The Fusion have been under the guidance of Coach Selvadurai for the last 4 years, during which time the team
has successfully competed in the USYSA Northeast Regional Premier League (3 years) and the
Eastern New York Premier League (1 year). In 2009, the Fusion were undefeated in
Regional Premier play, and participated in some of the most competitive tournaments the nation
has to offer. A group of highly motivated student-athletes, many of the Fusion girls are looking to play
varsity soccer at D1, D2 and D3 colleges and universities.

Coach Ray Selvadurai
Ray Selvadurai, a former Youth All-American and Regional ODP player from Long Island,
went on to an acclaimed college soccer career at BrandeisUniversity, where he was a four-year starter,
a two-time all-UAA star and NSCAA Regional All-American. As a senior, he captained the Judges
to an ECAC New England Title. He has coached several Manhattan Soccer Club teams to
the highest levels of play at the State, Regional and National levels. At the scholastic high school level,
Ray became the coach to reach 50 wins in the shortest time, leading the Riverdale boys to consecutive
Ivy Prep League Titles in 2005 and 2006, as well as three straight State finals appearances in
2004, 2005, and 2006, winning the State title in 2006. Players under Ray’s tutelage have
gone on to be scholarship players at the college Division I and II levels, and have captained Division III college teams. They have also qualified as youth National Olympic Development Players,
college All-Americans, and several have gone on to play at the professional level.
